Bethy + Jared’s minimalist masterpiece
How did you meet your (now) partner?
Bethy and Jared met on Hinge in January 2021. Bethy was actually Jared’s first match!
“We talked online for 2 weeks, then finally went on our first quarantine date at a park…socially distanced.”
This was also when Jared taught Bethy how to skate, then proceeded to land all his tricks. Bethy fell for it and the rest was history. A year later, Jared popped the question on top of Olomana mountain in Hawaii --probably one of the most treacherous hikes on the island.
“Jared asked a stranger to take a panoramic video of us with the view, and when the camera panned to us, Jared got down on his knee and proposed!” says Bethy.
Tell us an interesting fact about your wedding that was special to you?
“We included fun details that truly represented us such as using a skateboard as our guestbook, using Pokémon names for our table numbers, and creating signature drinks named after ‘kiwi’, our pet lizard. The most memorable part of the wedding was when the cruise ship’s horn went off for at least 2 minutes in the middle of the ceremony.
Although this might have ruined many people’s wedding timelines, it gave us a chance to pause, soak everything in, cheer and wave hi to our guests during the ceremony.
Our wedding turned out to be an absolute blast-- from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to live music, to late night dancing and fresh donuts, we were so excited to celebrate with all closest friends and family. Our wedding was the best day ever!”
Why did you choose our venue?
“The venue was modern, minimalistic, and provided lots of natural lighting—all of what I was envisioning for my big day.
It was beautiful as is!
We were lucky to have a beautiful sunset, palm trees and a docked cruise ship as the backdrop of our wedding. We also had a lot of people traveling from out of town, and the Lane really showed off San Diego!”
What do you think your guests will be talking about for years to come? (i.e. the signature cocktails, the decor, the rad DJ, location, etc)
“Our live band consisted of Jared’s close family and friends who he’s been playing with since they were in High school. They played our father/ daughter, mother/ son dance, and a couple other fun classics. They were phenomenal and really set the whole mood for the rest of the night full of dancing!”
What was the highlight of planning your wedding?
“I’ve always been the planner type, so planning a big event was so much fun. I loved researching different vendors that really fit my vision and watching it all come together in the end.”
