Bridget & Dom’s Romantic fall Wedding Day
Bridget & Dominic wanted their wedding to be romantic with a touch of bohemian style for the perfectly welcoming fall event- and they succeeded. With coordination by Luna Wild Design, floral arrangements by Wallflower Inspiration, and the backdrop of Building 177, this couple brought their vision to life for the perfect fall wedding day.
Picture your perfect wedding day. Besides your significant other (of course), what else do you see? What are the wedding day elements that are most important to you? Sometimes that picture is harder to imagine than you thought. Fortunately, Bridget and Dom had a general idea of what they wanted their special day to look and feel like:
“The vision was romantic, fall colors, with a hint of bohemian (burnt oranges, variations of pink, soft reds, etc). We wanted the wedding to feel welcoming and very us.”
Our team at Moniker Events is dedicated to understanding your vision, ensuring we bring it to life with the support of top-tier vendors, seamless communication, and a flexible approach.
SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT WEDDING BACKDROP
Only about 60% of our couples call San Diego “home,” while the other 40% have some interest or tie to the city, such as college years, relatives, or they just love the laid-back, coastal atmosphere that the town exudes. Bridget shared that even though San Diego is “not the place we call home, it holds a sense of home for both of us since it’s where we met and where we started to build our lives together.”
Liberty Station and Building 177 set the stage for classic, timeless, and modern weddings due to the campus’ history, Spanish colonial revival style architecture, and luscious landscaping. Building 177, once the original Naval Training Center Library, is a memorable wedding venue for any couple but especially for Bridget and Dom since Dom was stationed in the Navy in San Diego for a time!
To accommodate their nearly 220 guests, Bridget and Dom utilized the spacious Luce Court for cocktail hour. This palm tree-lined outdoor area provided the perfect setting for guests to mingle, sip drinks, and even dance under the open sky. With ample space, it was ideal for both a large guest count and vendors to set up comfortably.
CUSTOMIZING WITH A STELLAR VENDOR LIST
Building 177 is perfect wedding backdrop because it offers each client, couple, or company the opportunity to customize the space to their exact specifications. Our team curated the vendor list with a mix of exclusive and highly recommended local vendors. The list boasts caterers and coordinators that we’ve worked with for years who LOVE our clients well and treat each of them with respect and integrity; it also includes a wide range of vendor pricing, style, and execution. Clients are able to work with that list or choose to find outside vendors all within the venue policies and makeup.
Lucky Devils Band performed all the favorite and high-energy songs the whole night! Definitely one of the main elements of their wedding that the couple and guests will be talking about for years to come.
“We wanted to find a place that was customizable in every sense. We didn’t want to be tied to a small vendor list or bogged down by rules. Being able to customize our vendors helped us spend more money on our important categories and less on the parts of our wedding that we didn’t want as much focus on. ”
Catalog Atelier, a modern, minimalist rental vendor, procured the tableware, such as the linen blend napkins, ceramic plates, and brass flatware. The coordinator and designer, Luna Wild Design, captured Bridget and Dom’s vision by decorating the space with Catalog Atelier’s rentals, Wallflower Inspiration’s florals, No Detail Spared’s menu and stationary designs, and some of their own decor inventory.
CELEBRATING THEIR FAVORITE PART
The ceremony ended up being Bridget and Dom’s favorite part of the wedding day because “that moment felt so intimate and special for [them] and [their] guests.”
Even thought Building 177’s main hall space is about 6,000 sqft with a capacity of over 400 seated for ceremony, the room is perfect for smaller guest counts around 125-200. Our clients can create an intimate space through floral arrangements, decor, and even pipe & drape if they want to fully close off areas to the guests’ eye.
EATING, DRINKING, & DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY
“Eat, drink, and be married.” Isn’t that the saying?
After the ceremony, guests ventured out to the neighboring Luce Court for a lovely cocktail hour under the San Diego sun while the interior of Building 177 transformed into a reception for about 200 people. Complete with an area for the 6-piece band, a head table, photo booth, and bar, Building 177 offers plenty of space for clients to organize the room to their liking.
The couple, along with the advice from the seasoned Luna Wild Design team, opted for mixed style seating by utilizing our banquet (rectangular) and round tables. We’re personally a big fan of this setup because a mix of round and banquet tables breaks the monotony and adds depth to the reception layout. This variety makes the space feel more intentional and stylish rather than rigid or overly uniform.
Bridget & Dom’s wedding at Building 177 was a true reflection of their initial vision, making for a beautifully memorable day.
We’d love to be part of your special celebration! Every wedding is unique, and our team is dedicated to bringing your vision to life seamlessly. With our versatile blank-slate venue, thoughtfully curated vendor list, and intentional policies, we’re here to ensure your day is exactly as you’ve imagined.
